Dr. Eric B. Morris is an Indiana board-licensed Chiropractic Physician.
Young Life
On July 6, 1965, Dr. Eric B. Morris was born with a collapsed lung and a severe lung infection in Danville, Illinois--within a few weeks he was the epitome of perfectly healthy baby. He came into the world as the fifth child of Fred, a union electrician, and Ellen, a homemaker and later a social service administrator. Dr. Morris and his older siblings (Kelli, Jamie, David and Kevin) gained two more siblings in 1970 with the adoption of two cute young boys: eighteen-month-old Michael and four-year-old Daniel. It took a few years for Dr. Morris to shed his resentment over losing the social status and the long list of the perks which came with being the “baby” of the family. (He truly did eventually learn to love his younger brothers.) The rest of Dr. Morris’ childhood was relatively typical for a boy growing up in a rural area---baseball, bike riding, being picked on by older brothers, picking on younger brothers, exploring and farm work, etc. During the school year, Dr. Morris was always quite studious and always brought home a great report card. His hard academic work paid off when he graduated as valedictorian of his class from Bismarck-Henning High School in 1983. (As Dr. Morris crossed the stage to accept his diploma, he received a handshake and a kiss from the school board president, who just happened to be his mother.)
Educational Life
Dr. Eric B. Morris began his college career in electrical engineering at General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan (now known as Kettering University) and later transferred to the engineering school of the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. As his engineering education career advanced, he became more and more “stir crazy”---he was very good at the engineering coursework and his cooperative job with General Motors, but his heart and his interests were not in engineering. His interest in the life sciences and his desire to directly help people caused him to thoroughly investigate career possibilities in mainstream medicine, podiatry, dentistry and chiropractic. The drug-free, surgery-free approach of chiropractic coupled with chiropractic’s biomechanical (and even bioelctrical) approach to helping the body heal made chiropractic the quite obvious choice for Dr. Morris. He shocked all who knew him by leaving engineering at the start of his final semester though he eventually received his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology and Anatomy with over two hundred credit hours. Seeking a chiropractic career, he matriculated into Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Missouri. There Dr. Morris excelled in both the academic and the clinical aspects of his chiropractic education. In August 1993, Dr. Morris graduated with honors from Logan College with his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree. Dr. Morris passed all state and national board examinations and became licensed to practice in Indiana in August of 1993.
Career Life
Though Dr. Eric B. Morris considered and investigated many places practice, even Sydney, Australia, he eventually chose to settle professionally (and personally) in Indianapolis. Indianapolis was the perfect choice for him for two reasons: it is within a few hours drive from his parents’ home in Illinois and it has all the pluses a large city can offer while the people give it a “small-town feel”. Dr. Morris entered into practice at his prior location in 1993, following the unfortunate early death of his predecessor, Dr. Bruce Chalker. In the fall of 2006, he expanded his office when he moved to his current location. Since 1993, Dr. Morris has successfully treated a great variety of patients with a wide array of musculoskeletal and nervous system disorders. As part of his ongoing drive to stay abreast of new chiropractic and medical information and also to improve his clinical skills, Dr. Morris is consistently attending continuing education seminars---much more every year than the twelve hours required. He especially concentrates his ongoing post-graduate studies in the areas of nutrition, neurology, laser medicine and whiplash injuries.
Family Life
Dr. Eric B. Morris was rescued from bachelorhood in July of 1998 by his wife Betsy. A baccalaureate graduate of the University of Louisville, Betsy is herself hard worker who is also in business for herself. With his marriage to Betsy, Dr. Morris gained an instant family for Betsy has two beautiful daughters. Since he had first met them in 1995 when they were just four and nine years of age, his step-daughters have grown considerably in all aspects. Krissy is now a junior at Lawrence Central High School while Kory works full-time and takes classes at Ivy Tech. Dr. Morris and his family live in the Geist/Oaklandon area, but they hope to eventually move much closer to his office. As each year passes, Dr. Morris’ extended family continues to grow---he is up to almost twenty-five nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.”
